Summary

Sleep has a significant impact on emotional health, relationships, work performance, and overall well-being. It affects weight loss, trauma recovery, chronic pain, addiction recovery, motivation for change, and maintaining healthy habits. But is disrupted sleep the cause or a symptom of other challenges such as anxiety, mood issues, weight gain, or smartphone addiction? In this workshop, licensed mental health professionals, ministry leaders, and coaches will explore the basics of healthy sleep and discuss how to incorporate sleep into treatment or wellness plans. Participants will describe how to advocate for clients and collaborate with other medical providers to address sleep issues, while also identifying a framework for assessing sleep disorders and the impact on clients’ overall wellness, becoming familiar with the Spielman 3P Model of Insomnia. Additionally, participants will develop Motivational Interviewing tools to explore behavior change and develop treatment plans for clients struggling with sleep disorders and habit change.
