Often times, mental health coaches do not know where to start with a client, especially when the client is overwhelming with thoughts, emotions and behaviors. This workshop will explain how thoughts are the ideas in people’s minds, while feelings are emotional responses to those thoughts and experiences in daily life. These thoughts can contain lies, which often start as whispers during vulnerable moments. Thoughts and feelings work together to form a client’s internal narrative, often distorted by unhealed pain and disappointments. Instead of surrendering these wounds to God and allowing Him to heal them, clients may make silent covenants with negative patterns and believe lies over the truth given in God’s Word. This is where Christian mental health coaches can be a vital resource to direct clients to utilize these negative, and sometimes positive, feelings to drive them to God’s Word, interrupting negative patterns with truth. Participants will learn practical steps to help clients that involves exposing lies, tracing them to wounds, breaking agreements, and replacing them with truth.
