Summary

Using a trauma-informed approach, this workshop will explore the importance of emotional regulation through Erikson’s stages of development, attachment theory, neurophysiology, limbic system responses, and polyvagal states. It aims to increase knowledge about emotional dysregulation and provide effective interventions to maintain balanced regulatory states in young people. Psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, and ministry leaders will evaluate states of dysregulation and learn strategies to help children and early adolescents reset their nervous system. Participants will recognize how reaching children is crucial for fostering secure relationships and promoting spiritual growth for willing Christian clients. This workshop will explain when children are within the optimal window of tolerance, free from over or under-stimulation, safety and security are established, enhancing overall wellness. Participants will compare how wellness enables kids to engage more effectively at home, church, school, and in the community. Additionally, participants will develop skills needed to intervene during nervous system distress and enhance secure attachments, promoting healthy interpersonal relationships and spiritual growth.
