Summary

Drawing from the experience of training over 30,000 counselors to serve Chinese-speaking families across 16 countries, this session offers practical insights on motivating treatment-avoidant populations to engage in learning and personal growth. Psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, and ministry leaders will describe a 12-session mentalization and a relationship skills training program, blending faith-based principles with evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, EFT, Psychodynamic therapy, and Positive Psychology. This workshop explains emotional intelligence, affect regulation, and creates corrective emotional experiences that strengthen relationships. Participants will evaluate valuable strategies for overcoming cultural barriers and encouraging emotional self-regulation and conflict management, while exploring key factors that drive positive change, assess the components that foster emotional growth, and recognize how the program has helped thousands of global Chinese families improve their emotional well-being and relationships. These insights are applicable to people from all ethnic backgrounds.
