Summary

This workshop is designed for psychologists and licensed mental health professionals, who wish to integrate somatic, experiential, and emotion-focused approaches in sex therapy. Participants will explore the intersection of Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC) with cutting-edge therapeutic models like AEDP, IFS, EFT, AF-EMDR, and Memory Reconsolidation. Additionally, participants will apply polyvagal theory principles in the context of sex therapy, while helping clients regulate the nervous system states to foster improved emotional and relational connection. The session will cover somatically-based interventions from these models, focusing on how they can be used to treat sexual dysfunction and intimacy-related issues, and participants will develop practical strategies for implementing these interventions with clients. Finally, this workshop will conclude with a video demonstration of an actual client session (with client permission) to illustrate these approaches in action.

Learning Objectives

1 Discuss how to combine Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC) with advanced therapeutic models like AEDP, IFS, EFT, AF-EMDR, and Memory Reconsolidation to address sexual dysfunction and intimacy issues.
2 Examine and apply polyvagal theory principles in the context of sex therapy, helping clients regulate their nervous system states to improve emotional and relational connection.
3 Develop actionable strategies for implementing somatically-based interventions in their practice to support clients in addressing the emotional and physiological aspects of sexual and intimacy-related challenges.
