Summary

Young adults, teens, and children cannot escape the sexual indoctrination, invitation, and allure of an “anything goes” sexual ethic. It is imperative to help these young willing Chrisitan clients develop a biblical sexual ethic that is uncompromising, grace-filled, and moves them to act from God’s Word, not their emotions. Licensed mental health professionals and ministry leaders will learn critical teaching and talking points for parents, families, and pastors that are critical to address – often at an earlier age than expected – in order to prepare these young clients for choices they will make in the future. Developing a biblical worldview on sex education and stewarding sexuality is foundational. The role of parents and those that serve parents such as mental health professionals and pastors is more important than ever. This workshop will help clinicians and ministry leaders gain tools and strategies for “Going Beyond ‘The Talk.’”’

Learning Objectives

1 Describe evidence-based strategies and tools to equip parents, families, and youth with a biblical perspective on sexuality and relationships for willing Christian clients.
2 Identify key topics and developmental stages at which sensitive conversations about dating, sex, and identity should be introduced.
3 Apply skills to address complex issues, including transgender identity and sexual ethics, from a biblically informed and research-supported approach.
