Ministry can be demanding and, at times, hazardous. Licensed mental health professionals and ministry leaders must be equipped to address the unique risk factors that those in ministry face. It is essential to recognize the specific challenges of this population and how to effectively address the issues that arise as a result. In this workshop, participants will focus on the six most significant challenges encountered by ministry professionals, as identified in the presenter’s doctoral research. Participants will explore the root causes of these issues and gain insight into therapeutic techniques that target these core concerns, fostering better support and care for those in ministry. By the end of the session, participants will be able to assess those in professional ministry for the most significant issues they face, contributing to the development of an accurate plan of care. Participants will learn how to investigate the context of pastors’ lives and their vulnerability to specific problems, helping to create more effective treatment plans incorporating an understanding of these vulnerabilities. Additionally, participants will practice experimental techniques that can be integrated into an overall intervention model for ministry leaders.
