Summary

The pervasive use of technology significantly impacts children’s mental health, brain development, and overall life success, making screen use a critical topic in conversations between parents, adult leaders, and children. This session equips psychologists, licensed mental health professionals and ministry leaders with evidence-based skills to guide adults in having intentional and productive discussions with children about technology use. Attendees will gain an understanding of the effects of screen time on brain development and mental health, while also exploring innovative strategies to integrate technology use into children’s academic and life goals. Participants will be provided with actionable tools, including creative discussion scripts, the creation of a technology safety agreement to outline healthy boundaries, and the development of vision boards that connect screen use with personal and educational success. Additionally, attendees will practice leading relevant conversations that encourage children to approach screen time intentionally.
