Summary

Summary:

This workshop explores key forgiveness intervention models, summarizing their shared principles and mental health outcomes. Psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, and ministry leaders will be equipped to apply or adapt these models to one’s own practice. Participants will cover REACH Forgiveness, Enright’s Process Model, Luskin’s Forgive-for-Good, Yalom-style process group therapy, Gordon’s model for infidelity, and Webb’s research on alcohol and drug misuse. Additionally, we will examine two clinical models for treating self-condemnation: the four-R and six-step models. The workshop will also address special populations, including military personnel, families impacted by substance misuse, school classrooms, and university campuses. Recent advancements in forgiveness research will be discussed, including a randomized controlled trial conducted across five countries, a meta-analysis of classroom-based interventions, research on forgiveness in treating alcohol misuse, and the development of models for promoting self-forgiveness and reducing moral injury. Participants will leave with practical tools to integrate forgiveness interventions into their clinical practices.
