Summary

This session introduces licensed mental health professionals and ministry leaders to Focus Marital Therapy (FMT), drawing upon Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) principles, an evidence-based couples therapy developed and used by Focus on the Family’s Hope Restored Marriage Intensive programs for more than 25 years. Having helped more than 14,000 couples across the United States and Canada, FMT provides a structured approach to addressing marital crises. Participants will learn to use tools like the Reactive Cycle to help couples map out personalized conflict patterns and develop the essential components of an ideal relational environment that fosters deeper connection and intimacy. Additionally, attendees will gain practical skills to present clear visual depictions of healthy marriages versus typical relational struggles, equipping clients with tools such as Heart Talk, Steps to a Win-Win, and the Care Cycle to manage relational challenges effectively. This session offers both theoretical insights and actionable strategies to help couples rebuild intimacy and connection in their marriages.
