Shame is finally receiving the attention it deserves. Those who have been shamed are escaping wordless silence and giving voice to their experience. The next challenge is for their spoken fragments to be drawn together and reframed by God’s words. As an expression of the Gospel of Jesus, God’s words seem to be directed exclusively to the shamed person. They attract and invite, and they surround the shamed person in a story that seems too good to be true—so the person too often assumes it is only valid to those who are not a disgrace. This workshop will gather these good words from Scripture and then consider how to persuasively offer them to someone who resists.
